A few years ago I went through a milkshake phase, where I was totally obsessed over making milkshakes – especially boozy ones. It’s probably an understatement to say I was very excited to make this beer-enhanced chocolate shake.
There isn’t a lot to this, just chocolate ice cream, milk, beer and a smidge of malted milk powder, which bumps up the maltiness of the beer and plays off the chocolate in a nice way. I went with a high quality dark chocolate ice cream (Jeni’s, I think) and Deschutes Black Butte Porter for the beer.
Larry and I enjoyed these on a hot day while lounging around in the backyard, and I had absolutely zero regrets about it.
